Sangam of Ideas, Solutions and Actions
This constitutes MCWR’s bottom-up initiative to create awareness and forge collaborations at the ground level. It is aimed at holding a series of village panchayats along the entire stretch of River Yamuna from Hathnikund, where the river enters the plains, to Sangam at Prayagraj (formerly Allahabad), where it finally merges with River Ganga. MCWR has already held Yamuna Panchayats at Pallagaon and Jagatpur
The Yamuna is not just a river—it’s a civilization in motion. Yet, fragmented policies, unchecked exploitation, and urban-centric approaches have left communities along its banks with little voice in its governance. Yamuna Panchayat is MCWR’s response: a structured, community-driven decision-making model that puts local perspectives at the forefront of conservation.
