Core of MCWR
MAS Council for Water and River (MCWR) works towards preservation, conservation, rejuvenation, revival, management, and maintenance of rivers and water bodies, through partnerships, collaborations, and co-creations. It brings together individuals, professionals, organizations, and societies —from water management, hydrology, geology, mining, ecology & environment, humanities and social science, construction, surface and river transport, information technology and other related fields—to create awareness around rivers and water bodies; build better knowledge ecosystems; undertake and facilitate research projects and consultancies; and, offer a common knowledge and expertise platform to deal with issues related to rivers and water bodies.
MCWR works with a large constituency consisting of government and private organizations, think tanks, international and civil society organizations, aid bodies, research centres, institutions, and individuals towards the fulfillment of the objectives defined above. With the idea of keeping our interventions futuristic and sustainable, engaging with the youth, mostly school, college and university students, forms one of the significant components of our outreach program.
In the first phase of its wider outreach program, MCWR is focusing more on River Yamuna in north India with the idea of building a sustainable and better water infrastructure and effective management of its resources.
